Leslie Marx elected as Fellow of the Econometric Society

October 8, 2025

Bates White is proud to announce that Leslie Marx, firm Partner and the Robert A. Bandeen Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, has been elected a Fellow of the Econometric Society.

This honor is regarded as one of the highest distinctions an economist can achieve and is reserved for scholars who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the field of economics. Candidates for Fellow are elected by the Society’s active Fellows, signifying recognition of deep respect by their peers. Since 1931, only 1,229 total Fellows have been elected. Professor Marx joins Partners Joseph Farrell and Michael Whinston in earning this distinction.

Founded in 1930, the Econometric Society is an international society of academic economists who excel in applying statistical tools in the practice of econometrics. The society publishes Econometrica, one of the top peer-reviewed journals in economics and econometrics; Professor Marx is a referee for the journal.
