The 2023 rankings of consulting firms are based on a survey of consultants who answer weighted questions related to areas such as firm culture, compensation, work/life balance, and overall business outlook.
When completing the survey, Bates White employees consistently cited the firm’s culture and career development. One stated, “Everyone is incredibly smart and talented, but most importantly they want to help each other and enjoy their time here. Firm leadership is very intentional in setting up an environment where employees can succeed and grow.” Another commented, “From early on, upper management makes you feel included in decisions. I have worked side by side with managers and partners only a few weeks into working at the firm.”
In terms of career development, one consultant said, “The best aspects of the firm's career development opportunities are grounded in opportunities for informal mentorship and training, as well as formal technical and training.” Another agreed: “The firm ensures that employees are engaging in matters where not only do they feel challenged and excited but also empowered to ask questions.”
Numerous employees mentioned the firm’s commitment to diversity, equality, inclusion, and belonging. One noted, “We have initiatives for several groups, including women, international colleagues, and LGBT colleagues. The latter was started fairly recently and has shown me how it has been easy for colleagues to start an organization if they are interested.” Another noted, “From early on, even upper management makes you feel included.”
