Ontario Power Generation rate case support

On behalf of Ontario Power Generation (OPG), one of the largest utility companies in North America, Bates White analyzed the cost to refurbish the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station near Toronto. The analysis forms a key element in an ongoing regulatory review of a USD 10 billion refurbishment project and related rate case before the Ontario Energy Board, OPG’s regulator. At issue are the significant delay and significant cost overrun associated with the heavy water (D2O) storage facility project at Darlington. Bates White found that, had an analysis been performed prior to construction, the estimated cost would have been close to the amount actually spent.
