Tervita-Newalta merger
The Competition Bureau of Canada (CBC) retained Michael Whinston to analyze the proposed merger between Tervita and Newalta, which both provide waste management and environmental solution services to the oil and gas industry. Analyzed potential competitive effects of the transaction. After its review, the CBC declined to challenge the transaction, and Tervita acquired Newalta in July 2019.
