Jonathan Becker is an Economist in the Finance Practice. He has extensive familiarity with empirical economics and using econometric and machine learning methods to address complex questions in financial markets. Jonathan received his PhD in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where his research focused on the industrial organization of the US mortgage industry. His work used both structural models and reduced form tests to quantify the effects of asymmetric information in mortgage sales and securitization. Prior to joining Bates White, Jonathan worked as a Research Economist at the US Treasury, where he conducted research on mortgage-backed securities and short-term funding.
