April 10, 2018

Bates White Partner Keith Waehrer has won the 2018 Antitrust Writing Award for the Best Academic Economics article. Dr. Waehrer’s article “The Competitive Effects of Common Ownership: We Know Less Than We Think,” coauthored with Daniel P. O’Brien, was published in a 2017 issue of the Antitrust Law Journal (volume 81).

The Antitrust Writing Awards are a joint initiative between Concurrences journal and the George Washington University Law School. They aim to promote competition scholarship and to contribute to competition advocacy by recognizing and awarding the best articles published in antitrust law and the law and economics field over the past 12 months. The award is the result of a three-month process involving more than 50 international antitrust experts who reviewed more than 600 articles. Articles are judged according to writing, scholarship, originality, practical relevance, and the contribution they make to competition advocacy.

The award winners were announced on April 10, 2018, in Washington, DC.
