Bates White Partner Matthew M. Long cochaired and introduced Law Seminars International’s “Subprime Lending Crisis” conference and was a speaker on the conference’s opening panel “Market Overview: The Issues and How We Got Here,” which covered the structure of primary and secondary markets, events leading to the current crisis, key primary and secondary market players, and types of disputes. This opening panel also provided a view of the future.

Bates White Principal Karl N. Snow was also a participant in the conference. Dr. Snow appeared on the panel “Key Economic Issues in Proving the Case.” He discussed the structures of various subprime-related securities and explored the key modeling issues in valuing these securities in the current economic environment.

This program provided attorneys, investors, executives, and lenders with a big-picture view of the subprime lending crisis. The program dissected the problem, identified existing regulatory efforts and ongoing litigation, and explored what is likely to occur in the future.
