Bates White donates more than $227,000 in 2023

January 2024

In 2023, Bates White and its employees donated a combined total of more than $227,000 through the Bates White Community Connections (BWCC) program. To achieve these impressive results, 85 employees helped organize 38 initiatives during the year to support 30 nonprofit organizations.

The year’s fundraising programs included sending financial support for earthquake victims in Syria and Turkey and wildfire victims in Hawaii as well as direct community involvement, such as a volunteer day for the Capital Area Food Bank and a cleanup day for the Anacostia Watershed Society. Another initiative to support DC Scores involved both in-office competitions in Wordle and crossword puzzles and participation in a local soccer tournament. In a pedometer challenge raising funds for Higher Achievement, participants took 21.1 million steps over the course of three weeks. Other initiatives included a clothing drive for Bread for the City and participating in the Walk to End HIV to support Whitman Walker.

Scott Weishaar, Bates White Managing Partner, said, “We are proud to have such a robust, grassroots program. It’s a reflection of our passion for giving back and our commitment to creating an environment that empowers our people to follow their passions. We celebrate the creativity involved in planning activities that support causes that our employees care deeply about.”
