Zachary Sauers, PhD
Zachary Sauers specializes in the economic analysis of healthcare and antitrust issues, with experience in matters across industries including pharmaceuticals, healthcare technology, agrochemicals, and specialty crop breeding. He has supported testifying experts and provided consulting support in matters involving mergers, monopolization, and government investigations into other potentially anticompetitive conduct. His work includes empirical analysis of competition, market definition, and market power.
Beyond his casework, Zachary has helped foster professional growth within the firm and the broader economics community. He has led internal seminars on advances in econometric methodology and mentored the next generation of consultants and economists through the American Economic Association’s Summer Scholarship Program and the firm’s Summer Consultant Program.
Zachary received his PhD from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, where he taught graduate courses in microeconomics and econometrics. His dissertation employed spatial modeling and empirical analyses of large panel data sets to study the effects of student debt on internal migration patterns of high-skilled workers in the United States. He has also conducted research on state and municipal government pension plans. Prior to his doctoral studies, Zachary worked at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, where he monitored macroeconomic developments in emerging market economies.
