Summary

Laura Hurtado-Moreno focuses on litigation cases across a variety of industries. Her recent work has included causal inference analysis to estimate damages resulting from market collusion. Laura received her PhD in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis, where she was an instructor for Principles of Microeconomics and a teaching assistant for courses in market design, advanced microeconometrics, and structural econometrics. 

Laura’s research centers on efficiency losses in centralized matching markets and the role of policy interventions or planner strategies in mitigating these inefficiencies. In her dissertation, she developed a structural model to estimate the impact of socioeconomic disparities in commonly used school choice mechanisms. Additionally, she explored interventions in the US medical residency match system aimed at enhancing fairness in the assignment.
