Principal Ai Deng has published an article in the August issue of Antitrust Source: “Algorithmic Price Discrimination on Online Platforms and Antitrust Enforcement in China’s Digital Economy.” With co-authors Wei Han and Yajie Gao, Dr. Deng explores the potential challenges of applying the Anti-Monopoly Law of the People’s Republic of China to algorithmic price discrimination. Algorithmic price discrimination is unique in the sense that it is closely intertwined with online platforms and their ability to amass consumer information in a fashion unthinkable in traditional off-line marketplaces. The authors offer some suggestions on how best to structure an analysis, considering the unique characteristics of China’s digital economy.
