Global Competition Review names Bates White to its 2013 "Economics 20" list

February 5, 2013

For the fourth consecutive year, Global Competition Review has named Bates White in its "Economics 20," a listing of the world’s leading competition economics firms. Selection into this group of 20 firms is highly competitive and determined by an independent survey that analyzes the nominated firms’ size, presence of leading economists, recent client successes, historical pedigree, and market visibility.

Global Competition Review recognized Bates White’s work on behalf of several mergers, including Express Scripts/Medco Health Solutions, UnitedHealth Group/XL Health, as well as the successful appeal of the proposed Pioneer Hi-Bred/Pannar Seed merger in South Africa. On the agency side, the publication cited the firm’s work with the FTC on OSF Healthcare System’s proposed acquisition of Rockford Health System, as well as its work with the Canadian Competition Bureau on the proposed Bell Canada and Rogers Communications/Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment merger. The firm’s ongoing work in the TFT-LCD and Urethane antitrust litigations as well as the DRAM litigation case was also highlighted.

Finally, the publication noted the loss of Bates White’s co-founder, former Who’s Who Legal nominee Halbert White, who “made a huge impact both on the consultancy and on the wider field of economics.”

Bates White’s Antitrust and Competition Practice comprises 91 competition specialists and 7 economists recognized by Global Competition Review in its annual survey of leading competition economists, The International Who’s Who of Competition Economists.
