Spencer Yang is a Manager in the Energy Practice of Bates
White. His areas of expertise include transmission modeling, computer
simulation techniques, economic and statistical analysis, and
quantitative and predictive modeling. Dr. Yang provides attorneys
and senior management with strategic advice and litigation support
in electric transmission business and regulatory market power
disputes.
Dr. Yang is the recipient of numerous awards, distinctions, and
honors. Highlights include receiving the AKPA Outstanding Young
Researcher Award (Honorable Mention) at the “Physics Without
Borders” symposium of the American Physical Society; the
DESY International Outstanding Ph.D. Award (only three individuals
out of 2,600 Ph.D.s receive this prize); and the Columbia University
Graduate Fellowship. He also holds the distinction of completing
a three-year high school program in three months at age 14, the
youngest and fastest record in Republic of Korea.
Prior to joining Bates White, Dr. Yang served as a Staff Scientist
at California Institute of Technology. Previously, Dr. Yang served
as a Senior Postdoctoral Scholar at California Institute of Technology,
where he synthesized abstract research results into meaningful
recommendations to government reviewers.
Dr. Yang is fluent in Korean and possesses basic knowledge of
German and Japanese.
