DOUGLAS A. MILLER

Manager

Douglas Miller has more than nine years of experience in data analysis, database management, and research in the economic consulting field. He directs economic and statistical analysis and research on litigation matters and has worked on many of the largest price-fixing cases in U.S. history. Mr. Miller has supported projects involving the computer, agricultural, chemicals, medical, paper, pharmaceutical, and telecommunication industries. He has analyzed databases with more than 30 million records, conducted detailed economic market and industry research, and used large databases in connection with estimating damages in price-fixing cases.

Selected Experience

  • Managing team responsible for complex data analysis in a price-fixing case in the urethane and urethane chemical industry.
  • Supporting consulting expert in a chemical industry price-fixing matter in Europe. Working with attorneys to determine case and settlement strategy. Working jointly with ESMT Competition Analysis in Berlin to analyze purchase data, conduct industry research, provide discovery support, estimate damages, and support settlement discussions.
  • Supported counsel building multiple opt-out plaintiff groups in numerous international cartel matters. Responsibilities include database development, data analysis, industry research, preliminary damages estimation, and settlement support.
  • Supported multiple testifying experts on behalf of direct and indirect plaintiffs in In re Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) Antitrust Litigation. Managed the preparation of affirmative and rebuttal expert reports related to damages and liability analysis. Managed project team responsible for analyzing large and complex transaction databases. Assisted in the development of empirical analyses to support expert testimony on liability and damages.
  • Worked closely with inside and outside counsel to support settlement negotiations and discovery requests with direct and indirect plaintiffs in several class and opt-out price-fixing litigation matters. Managed data and damages analysis, discovery support, and industry research in support of mediation and settlement discussions.
  • Supported the damages testifying expert for a large coalition of direct-action plaintiffs in a complex horizontal conspiracy in In re Linerboard Antitrust Litigation. Managed team responsible for analyzing large and complex transaction databases.
  • Supported the testifying experts on damage and liability issues for a large plaintiff opt-out group in In re Vitamins Antitrust Litigation. Supported the team responsible for reconciling and maintaining information from more than 100,000 documents and 14 different databases as part of the discovery process. Played a key role supporting settlement negotiation phases of litigation.
