Matthew Long has extensive expertise in the consumer finance
industry and executive-level experience managing consumer finance
businesses and applying advance analytical procedures to consumer
finance products. He has also consulted to multiple consumer finance
companies, including one of the largest mortgage originators.
In this capacity, Mr. Long provided advice on risk analysis, pricing
disparities, risk-based pricing, loan economics, and other statistical
analysis. He has also provided due diligence, discounted cash-flow
analysis, and other valuation-related analysis to investors in
the consumer finance business. In addition to his consumer finance
expertise, Mr. Long is an expert in financial, strategic, and
economic issues surrounding product liability litigation.
Mr. Long has been retained as a testifying expert in Federal
district court matters, state court matters, and arbitration proceedings.
He has provided written and oral testimony, as well as expert
rebuttal, on credit-loss forecasting, due diligence procedures,
portfolio sales and transfers, credit risk analysis, risk-based
pricing, servicing standards, and underwriting approaches.
Prior to joining Bates White, Mr. Long worked as Vice-President
of Marketing and Analysis for Advertising.com, an optimization
driven Internet marketing company recently purchased by AOL. Previously,
he served in an executive-level position at Capital One Financial
Corporation. As the Director of Auto Finance Marketing and Analysis,
Mr. Long was responsible for assisting with Capital One's acquisition
entry into the subprime auto finance industry and the development
of the unit's credit policy, marketing strategy, pricing systems,
product development, and loss forecasting. He also launched Capital
One's personal installment loan business.
