Douglas Bernheim is the Edward Ames Edmonds Professor of Economics
at Stanford University. Dr. Bernheim
works closely with Bates White professionals and clients
to provide intellectual leadership in antitrust litigation, mergers
and acquisitions, and telecommunications. With more than 20 years of
experience, Dr. Bernheim is a recognized thought leader in the
academic community for his many contributions in the areas of
industrial organization, public finance, and applied econometrics.
Dr. Bernheim has provided expert testimony in numerous high profile
litigation, merger, and regulatory matters on topics including
market definition, competitive impact, countervailing efficiencies,
predatory pricing, monopolization, antitrust liability, and antitrust
damages. In In
re Vitamins Antitrust Litigation, he served as the damages
expert for the largest group of direct-action plaintiffs and the
class plaintiffs. In addition to providing expert testimony, Dr.
Bernheim regularly consults with leading attorneys on economic
aspects of antitrust litigation and mergers.
Dr. Bernheim is the author of more than 45 peer-reviewed journal
articles, three books, and numerous other professional and academic
publications. He holds multiple distinctions, including: John
Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship; Fellow, Center
for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences; Fellow of the American
Academy of Arts and Sciences; and Fellow of the Econometric Society.
