William J. Carrington has more than 15 years of experience working for government,
in academia, and as an economic consultant. He has worked and published on a broad range of
issues related to labor and employment. Dr. Carrington has evaluated claims of race,
national origin, gender, disability status, and age discrimination in the context of a wide
range of employment outcomes, including salary, total compensation, promotions, ratings,
hiring, dismissals, training, and discipline. He has also consulted on a wide range of
additional employment issues, including many types of claims based on the Fair Labor
Standards Act (FLSA) and related state laws. Dr. Carrington has filed numerous reports
with both state and federal courts and has provided deposition testimony in many cases.
He has testified before the Supreme Court of the State of New York and in administrative
hearings in the State of Virginia.
Prior to joining Bates White, Dr. Carrington was Vice President of Welch Consulting in
Bethesda, Maryland. He worked as a Research Economist with the Bureau of Labor Statistics
and as a Senior Associate with Charles River Associates, both in Washington, D.C. Dr.
Carrington was an Assistant Professor for eight years in the Department of Economics
at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
