International energy executive, Nicolás Puga, joins Bates White’s Energy Practice
WASHINGTON, D.C., February 5, 2007—Nicolás Puga, an energy and engineering expert with more than 20 years of experience in international marketing, business development, and operations, has joined Bates White’s Energy Practice as a Principal.
Mr. Puga has worked as a technical advisor on energy infrastructure project development, energy end-use efficiency, and renewable energy technology policies and marketing. He is an expert in U.S./Mexico cross-border energy trade and in the market, regulatory, and commercial aspects of energy project development in Mexico. Mr. Puga has advised numerous private and public sector clients in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, Colombia, the Philippines, and Australia.
Prior to joining Bates White, Mr. Puga worked as an independent energy consultant and held several executive-level positions at Navigant Consulting, Resource Management International, Inc., and ANCO Engineers, Inc. Mr. Puga began his career as a Design Engineer at Comisíon Federal de Electricidad in Celaya, Mexico, and he also worked as a Research Engineer in the Alternative Sources of Energy Division, Instituto de Investigaciones Eléctricas in Cuernavaca, Mexico. He was a research associate at the University of Arizona’s Department of Nuclear and Energy Engineering.
Mr. Puga holds an M.S. in Energy Engineering from the University of Arizona and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Universidad de Guanajuato in Salamanca, Mexico.
