Bates White receives 2007 Corporate Green Apple Award from the Higher Achievement Program

WASHINGTON, D.C., May 17, 2007—Bates White was awarded a Green Apple Award from the Higher Achievement Program, an organization providing middle school children from underserved areas with rigorous out-of-school mentoring and academic enrichment. This prestigious award is given to people or organizations having the greatest impact on Higher Achievement and its student scholars.

Bates White was selected as this year’s recipient based on its broad support of Higher Achievement. The firm provided 18 volunteer mentors who tutored student scholars after school, helped raise money for the program through its holiday raffle, and showcased the organization at a special community connection reception.

“Bates White has become the gold standard,” said Richard Tagle, Higher Achievement Executive Director. “From the support of senior staff, to the thoroughness and reliability of staff working to manage the partnership and the spirited commitment of the associates who are volunteering, the Bates White team is exemplary.”

Eric Gaier, Bates White Partner, accepted the award on behalf of the firm. “We are thrilled and extremely proud to receive this award, especially since it was our first year participating in the program,” said Gaier. “Higher Achievement provides our employees with an opportunity to give back to the community in a meaningful way. We challenge the leaders of other professional services organizations to foster an environment that allows their employees to make similar commitments.”
