T. Scott Thompson, former U.S. Department of
Justice Antitrust Economist and Section Assistant Chief joins
Bates White’s Antitrust Practice
WASHINGTON, D.C., February 17, 2006—Dr. Scott Thompson
has joined Bates White as a Partner in the Antitrust Practice.
Dr. Thompson brings significant methodological expertise assessing
the predicted effects of proposed mergers, agreements, and single-firm
conduct. His background further extends the expertise of the Antitrust
Practice, particularly in the areas of mergers and acquisitions,
exclusionary conduct, and monopolization.
Prior to joining Bates White, Dr. Thompson served as Assistant
Chief of the Economic Regulatory Section of the Antitrust Division
of the U.S. Department of Justice. In that role, he conducted
or supervised the agency’s economic analysis in numerous
investigations and cases involving a wide variety of industries
including consumer products, health care, financial products and
services, agriculture, satellites, and pulp and paper.
