Dr. Matthew Raiff delivers keynote address
at Canisius College annual scholars’ reception
WASHINGTON, D.C., March 25, 2006—Bates White Managing
Partner Matthew Raiff served as the keynote speaker for Canisius
College’s annual scholars’ reception in Buffalo,
New York. With more than 300 participants including 115 students
and their families, the annual event is designed to showcase
Canisius to top high school students accepted to the institution.
In his presentation, Dr. Raiff, a Canisius alumnus, discussed
how the college provided a foundation for his future success.
He also offered guidance to those just beginning their college
careers. He discussed taking on leadership roles whenever possible,
developing strong communications and critical thinking skills,
fostering relationships with mentors, and challenging oneself
academically. “The Cansisius faculty played a significant
role in guiding and motivating me to invest in myself and my
future,” said Raiff. “I am grateful for the opportunity
to give back to the Canisius community.”
"Dr. Raiff's address to the prospective students and their
families was inspirational,” said Anne Marie Moscovic,
Acting Director of Admissions for Canisius College. He gave a
real-world perspective
on the importance of the skills and values learned in college
and how they are the foundation for a successful career and a
healthy, balanced life."
