International economist, Dr. Leonardo R. Giacchino,
joins Bates White’s Energy Practice
WASHINGTON, D.C., April 6, 2006—Dr. Leonardo Giacchino,
a leading international economist specializing in regulated industries,
has joined Bates White as a Partner. Dr. Giacchino brings significant
experience in economic analysis and litigation advisory services
to Bates White’s Energy Practice, particularly in natural
gas, electricity, oil, water, and transport industries. He has
extensive expertise in international arbitration, global investor
services, and regulatory strategy for utilities, and has testified
before U.S. Federal District Courts, international arbitration
courts, and public utility commissions in numerous countries.

Dr. Giacchino has worked on more

governments, and the World Bank in more than 25 countries. Prior
to joining Bates White, Dr. Giacchino was Vice President at NERA,
where he provided economic analysis and advisory services for
regulated markets. Previously, he served as a Senior Economist
at a private oil company in Argentina (now PanAmerican, BP Group),
where he participated in planning for the deregulation of Argentina’s
energy markets. In addition, Dr. Giacchino taught Economics at
Duke University.
