University of California, San Diego Appoints
Dr. Halbert White to Endowed Chair
WASHINGTON, D.C., February 25, 2004—Bates White, LLC,
a national economics consulting firm, announced that the University
of California, San Diego (UCSD) has appointed Dr. Halbert White,
UCSD professor of economics and Bates White founder, to the Chancellor’s
Associates Chair in Econometrics II.
"We are delighted that UCSD recognized Hal for his outstanding
scholarship and service," said Dr. Charles E. Bates, president
and founder of Bates White. “It is a significant honor to
receive an endowed chair.” The Chancellor’s Associates
Chair in Econometrics II was previously held by Professor Clive
W.J. Granger, recent recipient of the Nobel Prize in Economics.
Dr. White’s appointment was based on the recommendation
of the campus reviewers and campus administrators.
Along with the distinct honor of this appointment, Dr. White
will receive a stipend from the chair’s endowment to support
his teaching, research, and service activities.
