Bates White donates phone cards to injured soldiers
through the USO of Metropolitan Washington
WASHINGTON, D.C., March 23, 2004—Bates White, LLC, a national
economics consulting firm, announced that it donated more than
600 phone cards to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington,
D.C., to assist injured active duty service members in contacting
their family and friends.
Bates White donated the phone cards through the USO of Metropolitan
Washington (USO-Metro), a nonprofit organization that provides
vital human services and programs to the military community. "We’re
grateful to Bates White for working with us to help injured soldiers
at Walter Reed," said Elaine Rogers, president of USO-Metro.
"The phone cards will enable service members to stay in touch
with their families while they are recuperating."
"Bates White is pleased to be able to help military personnel
at Walter Reed Hospital as they recover from their injuries,"
said Dr. Charles E. Bates, president and founder.
The phone cards will be distributed to military personnel who
have been injured while serving in the war on terror. It is often
difficult for the soldiers at Walter Reed Hospital to communicate
with loved ones since many of them are not from the Washington,
D.C. area.
The USO of Metropolitan Washington (USO-Metro) is a private,
nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to "serving those
who serve... and their families" from Aberdeen Proving Ground,
Maryland to Richmond, Virginia. On a daily basis, USO-Metro provides
vital human services and programs free of charge to the military
community to enhance their quality of life. For more information,
