Bates White announces the second recipient of
the Bates White Graduate Fellowship
WASHINGTON, D.C., June 7, 2004—Bates White today announced
that Andrei Karavaev of The Pennsylvania State University received
the 2004 Bates White Graduate Fellowship.
The Bates White Graduate Fellowship was established for doctoral
candidates to broaden career opportunities in the field of economics.
The fellowship recipient receives a full-time summer position
at Bates White’s Washington, D.C. office and a stipend for
tuition and fees for one academic year.
Dr. Matthew Raiff, Partner and founding member of the Bates White
Fellowship Review Committee, said, "We are honored that Andrei
accepted this year’s fellowship and we look forward to working
with him on multiple projects this summer. As last year’s
fellowship program demonstrated, the intellectual exchange of
knowledge between the recipient and Bates White employees is an

the Economics Department at The Pennsylvania State University

Andrei Karavaev is a doctoral candidate in the Economics Department
at The Pennsylvania State University. His interests include game
theory, industrial organization, and monetary theory. Karavaev
has served as an instructor and a teaching assistant in international
economics, probability theory and statistics, advanced microeconomics,
and intermediate macroeconomics.
