Energy expert Dr. David DeRamus addresses Electric
Power Supply Association spring meeting
WASHINGTON, D.C., May 6, 2004—Bates White, LLC, a national
economics consulting firm, announced that Bates White Partner
Dr. David DeRamus presented today at the Electric Power Supply
Association’s “States Issues and Spring Membership
Meeting” in Washington, D.C.
Dr. DeRamus participated in a panel entitled, “Utility
Power Supply: Costs and Risks.” His presentation focused
on the impact of utility re-integration on horizontal and vertical
market power. Dr. DeRamus also discussed the cost advantages of
utilities under rate-of-return regulation and their incentives
to engage in market foreclosure and uneconomic dispatch.
Electric Power Supply Association (EPSA) is a national trade association
representing competitive power suppliers, including independent
power producers, merchant generators, and power marketers. The
conference attendees included high-level executives from the competitive
power supply industry.
