Bates White announces the first recipient of
the “Bates White Graduate Fellowship”
WASHINGTON, D.C., June 6, 2003—Bates White today announced
that Alexander Vachtchilko of The Pennsylvania State University
is the firm’s first recipient of the “Bates White
Graduate Fellowship.”
Alexander Vachtchilko is a doctoral candidate in the Economics
department at The Pennsylvania State University and started the
fellowship this week.
The “Bates White Graduate Fellowship” was established
to broaden career opportunities in the field of economics for
doctoral candidates. The fellowship recipient receives a full-time
summer position at the firms’ Washington, DC office and
a stipend for tuition and fees for one academic year. The duration
of the fellowship is initially one year and subject to renewal.
"The fellowship program benefits both the recipient and
our junior staff. The fellowship recipient will gain exposure
to an economic consulting environment, while sharing their academic
experiences and knowledge with our employees,” stated Dr.

The fellowship guidelines include being a top performer in your
academic discipline (open to all concentrations), pursuing a PhD,
and receiving outstanding professor recommendations.
