An environment of opportunity and a culture of learning | Ben, Consultant

Ben, ConsultantOpportunity and culture stand out in my mind as Bates White’s unique characteristics which I’ve come to greatly appreciate. It is these characteristics that make it exciting to come to work each day.

As an entry-level consultant, I am amazed at the available opportunities. For someone proactive in his or her own personal development, Bates White is a great place to work, learn, and improve. I’ve already taken on leadership roles, developed expertise in multiple areas, and interacted daily with senior staff—many of whom have doctorate, law, or MBA degrees and are helping me determine my future path. I’ve also had the opportunity to work in multiple practice areas. This has provided me with continuous learning and a well-rounded background. I’ve never once felt looked down-upon or under-qualified, since people are more concerned with my abilities rather than which academic degrees I possess.

From a cultural perspective, Bates White is flexible and collaborative. Everyone works hard to cultivate a learning environment. It’s understood (and encouraged) that people will ask questions and spark discussion whenever possible. Much of the culture is derived from the academic nature of the founding partners and this is fostered through the rest of the organization. The collaboration and open-door nature of my co-workers is a huge comfort when I run into a difficult problem, and even if they don’t know the answer, they are always more than happy to sit with me and brainstorm ideas.
